Intimacy.
What is intimacy?
Knowing and being known?
Bitterness.
Is it envy that doesn't understand itself?
Is it Nietzsche that said exceptional people follow their inner law…become what you are?
Or was it Pindar or Nietzsche?
If the immense power of social media could be harnessed to connect the world,
to seek understanding of the issues, rather than a proclivity to merely expose them,
we as a race might improve the quality of our individual experiences of it and
within it.
Maybe we have to become more conscious of our true potential.
Giving up on religion, Nietzsche said, would mean that humans would be left to find new ways of supplying themselves with guidance, consolation, ethical ideas, and spiritual ambition.
And that gap left by religion should ideally be filled with culture, philosophy, art, music, literature.
Culture should replace scripture.
I don't think it necessarily should replace it.
It's a compendium.
The test of good manners.
What is the test of good manners?
Is it to put up pleasantly with bad ones?
“Suggesting I hate people with religion,” Ricky Gervais said, “because I hate religion is like suggesting I hate people with cancer because I hate cancer.”
Sweet are the usages of adversity.
Was that Shakespeare?
“When you come to the edge of all, you know one of two things happen.
There will be something solid for you to step upon or you will learn how to fly.”
Was that Thoreau?
“When you receive bad vibes from people, vibrate higher, radiate positivity.
Ride the resultant wave of existential existence.”
That may have been me.
Rather than imagining that they might feel guilt, people who have hurt us,
in fact, typically start to hate us for reminding them of their own meanness.
For a star to be born, there is one thing that must happen.
A gaseous nebula must collapse.
So collapse, crumble.
This is your destruction.
This is your birth.
Lean into learning.
One day, all the people who didn't believe in you will tell others how they met you.
Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
An example of good character is to embrace unpleasant characters with civility.
A test of humility is to willingly retreat from deserved adulation.
A sense of serenity garners contempt for hubris.
And a lie withheld has already been found out within.
God may think of our sins, our nervous system won't.
And conduct becoming a genteel man engenders melodious civility.
The antithesis of an orchestrated event produces ethical harmony.
After all, people were created to be loved.
Things were created to be used.
perhaps some of the reasons why the world is in chaos is because things are being
loved and people are being used.
If you advance confidently, Thoreau said, in the direction of your own dreams and endeavor to live that life which you have imagined, you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. It will chase after you if you begin to feel.
Focus issues to realize challenges.
Possibilities focus opportunities with visual eyes.
The real eyes, realize, real lies.
When life deals a challenging hand, the odds may get evened out if you just let the chips fall where they may.
Each Moment Always Once.
Four words.
The best way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.
When you're tired of being in the dark, turn on the light, and if the light is too blinding, go inside yourself, seek serenity, feel grace.
Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.
Work for a cause, not for applause.
Live life to express, not to impress.
A thing is worth what it can do for you, not what you choose to pay for it.
Treat life like a camera.
Don't just point and shoot, focus on what matters.
Develop from the negatives, capture the positives, and if things don't frame out well,
just take another shot.
Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it's faced.
Change is painful and pain is changeful.
Negativity can only affect you if you're on the same frequency.
Vibrate higher.
I forget who it was who said, “ego says, once everything falls into place, I'll find peace.
Spirit says, find your peace and then everything will fall into place.”
I need what I want to be happy, but if I'm happy, my needs and wants will disappear.
Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to
misunderstanding you.
Hidden signs of life will be revealed if you illuminate your mind's eye.
And don't cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.
What of desire, profound desire, true desire?
Is it the desire to be close to someone, another?
You can't do anything about the length of your life.
You can do something about its width and depth.
Literature, life passes onto pages if it passes onto anything, or into anything, or out of anything.
Be afraid to die until you've scored some storied victories for humanity.
Edison said, “many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Do not give up.
The intemperate nature of social media commentary, or anti-social media commentary, as I call it sometimes, reflects a disturbing trend in society to condemn without first acquiring contextual facts.
It's not the case on this spot of thinking.
Be yourself.
Why?
Everyone else is already taken.
And when you find yourself fighting for your life, surrender, for you've already found yourself.
Don't assume. Just ask.
Inquire. Make an inquiry.
Believing with conviction should not incarcerate the mind from being open to a reasoned discourse, to hear the beliefs, opinions, thoughts of others who have courage in their own convictions.
Is not authenticity a role of a lifetime?
It matters not where you are in life.
It's who you are that matters.
William Blake said, “what is now proved was once only imagined.”
Neville said, “make your future dream a present fact by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled.”
It's healthy to spend time alone to learn how to do it so as not to be defined by
another person.
